INTRODUCTION

The Department of Political Science commenced its functions the same year when the college was established. In the wide range of courses offered at UG level the department provides opportunities to the students to learn about the political ideas and concepts, political philosophy and thought of great political thinkers, and controversies involved in human predicament. The students will develop the skills of critical faculty of mind, clarity of thought and persuasive argumentation.

VISION

The Department of Political Science strives to make students popular about the intra and extra environments of political system and state activities in the contemporary global scenario, so that they can become good, vibrant and responsible citizens.

MISSION

The general focus and mission of the department is:

• To teach students about political ideologies, key debates and issues in political theory like liberty, equality, rights, justice, citizenship,power,authority, and legitimacy.
• To make the Students academically proficient and practically vibrant to face Real-Life Situations.
• To enrich students about comprehensive horizons of politics and governance.
• To bridge gap between theory and practice of political science.

FUTURE PLANS

No doubt the department is making every efforts to streamline the teaching-learning process in the post-pandemic situation. Now, keeping the needs of student community into consideration the department shall take following plans in the future:

• To conduct syllabus oriented webinars/seminars/special talks and sessions under NEP-2020.
• To update students about the current happenings in the world politics.
• To aware students about the sensitive social issues like gender inequality and sexual harassment.
