On 20th December 2024, the BG 1st Semester students from Government Degree College (GDC), Thindim Kreeri, participated in a one-day training program on Hospitality and the Food Industry at the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), Rajbagh, Srinagar. The purpose of this visit was to provide students with practical insights and hands-on experience in the hospitality sector, complementing their academic knowledge. The day began with a warm welcome and orientation session by the staff and faculty of IHM Rajbagh, where students were briefed about the day's schedule and the importance of hospitality management. This was followed by interactive sessions covering the fundamentals of the hospitality industry, its scope, career opportunities, and the significance of maintaining food safety and hygiene standards. Practical demonstrations played a crucial part in the training program. Students observed basic cooking and baking techniques demonstrated by experienced chefs and participated in a session on table setting, serving etiquette, and customer service skills. These activities provided students with valuable hands-on experience and practical knowledge. Students actively engaged in hands-on activities, preparing simple dishes under the guidance of professional chefs and practicing setting up a dining area and serving meals. The one-day training program was highly informative and enriching for the students, providing them with invaluable practical knowledge and a deeper understanding of the hospitality and food industry. GDC Thindim Kreeri extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Institute of Hotel Management, Rajbagh, for hosting the students and providing them with this exceptional learning opportunity. The entire program was meticulously coordinated by Dr. Khursheed Ahmad Wani, whose dedication ensured the smooth execution of the workshop.
