Department of Environmental Science, Government Degree College Thindim Kreeri conducted an awareness programme on Cyber fraud and precautions under the aegis of Digital Week Celebrations on 6^th September, 2023. Dr. Khursheed Ahmad Wani (Assistant Professor Environmental Science) was the resource persons. Dr. Wani advised the students to remain aware while performing online transactions. He highlighted the importance of online security in today’s world owing to the various threats posed by hackers and vested interests in the virtual spaces. The speaker cautioned the students to be very careful while using social media and urged them to make others aware of the online threats and safety measures. The resource person informed the students and faculty members that the Digital Week is observed to spread awareness and to sensitize the public about the various crimes committed through different social media platforms like Facebook, snapchat, Whatsapp and Instagram. The speaker instructed the students about the ways and means of safeguarding themselves from concerns like cyberbullying, harassment, fake identity, account hacking and other cyber-crimes. The programme was conducted under the supervision of Principal, Prof. Kowser Jan.
