The Department of Political Science, GDC Thindim Kreeri organized an awareness program on the “making of the Indian Constitution” today on 6th March, 2025 under the supervision of Worthy Principal, Prof. Kounsar Jan. The program commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Khursheed. In his speech, Dr. Khursheed emphasized the importance of understanding the Indian Constitution and its relevance in contemporary society. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Zahid, Assistant Professor of Political Science. Dr. Zahid provided an in-depth analysis of the historical context that necessitated the drafting of a new Constitution for independent India. He highlighted the contributions of key figures such as Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Jawaharlal Nehru, and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who played pivotal roles in the framing of the Constitution. Dr. Zahid also elaborated on the various sources of the Indian Constitution, which drew inspiration from the constitutions of other countries, including the British, US, Irish, and Canadian Constitutions. He discussed the major committees involved in the drafting process and the extensive debates that took place in the Constituent Assembly to ensure a comprehensive and inclusive Constitution. Students also shared their thoughts, appreciating the efforts of the founding fathers and the Constitution's significance in ensuring justice, liberty, and equality. The program concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants for making the event a success.
