Special Lecture on the Freedom Movement of India



Today on 3rd August, 2024, Department of Political Science, GDC Thindim Kreeri in collaboration with the NSS unit of the college organized a Special Lecture on the topic “Freedom Movement of India” as part of 77th Independence Day celebrations. The Programme was conducted under the august leadership of Worthy Principal Prof. Kowser Jan. The speaker was Dr. Zahid Hussain wherein he talked about the meaning and importance of the freedom in the Indian context. The speaker highlighted the role played by British colonialism in developing the underdevelopment in India which was realized by the then freedom fighters like Dadabhai Naoroji who spoke about this phenomenon in terms of the “Drain of Wealth”. The role played by the people living under the colonial rule under the guidance of the leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad, Bhagat Singh, V.D. Savarkar, and many others was duly highlighted. The lecture ended with the note of optimism regarding the continuing struggle for freedom in terms of the internal struggles like corruption, terrorism, poverty, etc. that the nations faces today. The programme concluded with Vote of Thanks presented by Dr. Syed Mustafa Shah.
