On 28th November 2024, the Red Ribbon Club of GDC Thindim Kreeri, in collaboration with the Research and Incubation Cell, organized a comprehensive awareness programme on drug abuse. This initiative was undertaken under the esteemed leadership of the Principal, Prof. Kowser Jan. The event aimed to educate students and faculty about the multifaceted dangers of drug abuse and the importance of preventive measures. The programme featured a distinguished panel of keynote speakers, including Senior Prosecuting Officer Zahid Mirza, DSP Javid Ahmad, and SHO Kreeri, M. Shafi. Each speaker brought a unique perspective to the discussion, enriching the audience's understanding of the complex issue of drug abuse.

Senior Prosecuting Officer Zahid Mirza provided an in-depth analysis of the legal framework governing narcotics. He detailed the stringent laws and regulations in place to combat drug trafficking and abuse, emphasizing the penalties for offenders. His presentation underscored the role of the judiciary in enforcing these laws and the importance of legal deterrents in reducing drug-related crimes.

DSP Javid Ahmad focused on the practical aspects of law enforcement. He shared insights from his extensive experience in policing, highlighting the challenges faced by law enforcement officers in combating drug trafficking. DSP Ahmad discussed various strategies employed by the police to detect and apprehend drug offenders, including community policing and intelligence-led operations. He also emphasized the importance of inter-agency collaboration in tackling the drug menace.

Prof. Kowser Jan, in her address, highlighted the ethical and social dimensions of drug abuse. She underscored the responsibility of educational institutions in fostering a drug-free environment and the importance of awareness programs in achieving this goal. Prof. Jan emphasized that such programs are crucial for instilling ethical values and social responsibility among students.

The event was meticulously coordinated by Dr. Zahid Hussain, Coordinator of the Research and Incubation Cell. Dr. Khursheed Ahmad Wani, Convener of the Incubation and Research Cell, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the speakers, participants, and organizers for their contributions to the event.
