Under the banner of SVEEP, Department of Political Science and NSS Unit of GDC Thindim Kreeri screened movie “Newton” in the college auditorium on 21^st September 2024. “Newton,” directed by Amit V. Masurkar and starring Rajkummar Rao, is a dark comedy that delves into the intricacies of the Indian electoral system. The film follows the journey of Newton Kumar, an earnest government clerk assigned to conduct elections in a remote and conflict-ridden area of Chhattisgarh. The movie highlights the bureaucratic hurdles, security concerns, and the apathy of both officials and voters in such regions. The screening of “Newton” was a successful educational experience for the students. It not only provided a cinematic insight into the electoral process but also sparked meaningful discussions on the importance of democracy and the responsibilities of both voters and officials. The event concluded with a Q&A session, where students expressed their thoughts and queries about the electoral system and the movie. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Zahid Hussain under the guideline of worthy Principal Prof. Kowsar Jan.
