AWARENESS PROGRAMME UNDER NCORD INITIATIVE



The NSS Unit of GDC Thindim Kreeri in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir Police, organized an awareness programme under the NCORD initiative, as part of the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan and the ongoing IEC campaign against drug abuse. The programme was held on 9th April 2025 under the supervision of the Worthy Principal, Prof. Kousar Jan.

The event aimed to educate students and staff about the rising threat of substance abuse and to promote a drug-free, healthy lifestyle among youth. It brought together law enforcement officials, educators, and young minds on a common platform to foster dialogue, awareness, and action against this pressing social issue. The programme commenced with a welcome address delivered by Dr. Khursheed, who warmly greeted all attendees and highlighted the importance of collective responsibility in addressing the drug menace. He stressed that such initiatives play a crucial role in shaping the conscience of young individuals and preparing them to contribute positively to society.

The keynote address was delivered by Ms. Monika Thakur, DSP Operations Kreeri, who offered a comprehensive and thought-provoking lecture on the socio-psychological consequences of drug abuse. She also discussed the preventive measures being undertaken by the police department and emphasized the importance of student and community engagement in curbing this threat. Following this, Mr. Feroz Ahmad, SHO Kreeri, shared his practical experiences from the field, offering valuable insights into the ground realities of drug-related cases. He encouraged students to act as ambassadors of change within their communities and to remain vigilant and informed.

The event concluded with a formal address by the Principal of the Institution, Prof. Kousar Jan, who expressed her heartfelt appreciation to the speakers, the NSS volunteers, and all those involved in organizing the event. She reaffirmed the institution’s dedication to nurturing socially conscious and responsible citizens, and urged students to actively participate in awareness campaigns and community outreach programmes.
