AWARENESS PROGRAMME UNDER BCC/IEC COMPONENT OF NATIONAL AYUSH MISSION



An Awareness Programme under the BCC/IEC Component of the National Ayush Mission was successfully conducted at GDC Thindim Kreeri in collaboration with District Ayush Office Baramulla under the leadership of Principal Prof. Kowsar Jan and Dr. Reyaz Ahmad Khan (District Ayush Officer, Baramulla) on 23rd December, 2024. The event featured a series of informative sessions and interactive activities aimed at raising awareness about various health issues and sustainable practices.  The event commenced with a warm welcome speech by Prof. Kounsar Jan, who highlighted the importance of the awareness programme and the role of the National Ayush Mission in promoting health and wellness.

Dr. Masrat Shreen (Medical Officer) began the session with an enlightening talk on Polycystic Ovarian Disease (PCOD). She explained the causes, symptoms, and complications associated with PCOD, emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis and management. Dr. Shreen (Medical Officer, AHWC Habak) provided practical advice on lifestyle modifications, dietary changes, and the role of Ayurvedic treatments in managing PCOD. She also stressed the need for regular medical check-ups and holistic approaches to improve overall health and well-being.

 

Dr. Tabasum Ali (Medical Officer, AHWC Gaunipora) focused on the adverse effects of modern junk foods and plastics on health. She discussed the nutritional deficiencies and health risks associated with the consumption of junk foods, including obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases. Dr. Ali also highlighted the environmental impact of plastics, their role in food contamination, and the importance of reducing plastic usage. She encouraged the audience to adopt healthier eating habits and make sustainable lifestyle choices to protect both their health and the environment.

  Dr. Noor Mohd Bukhari (Medical Officer, AHWC Kokuthal) addressed the audience, expressing his appreciation for the speakers and the participants. He emphasized the importance of awareness programs in promoting health education and preventive healthcare practices. Dr. Bukhari highlighted the initiatives of the National Ayush Mission in enhancing healthcare access and quality through such informative sessions. Dr. Bukhari also provided insights into common winter ailments and effective Ayurvedic remedies to prevent and manage these conditions.

 

Dr. Reyaz Ahmad Khan, District Officer Ayush, Baramulla, concluded the programme with an engaging and insightful discussion on lifestyle changes and their significance in holistic health. He emphasized the importance of adopting healthy habits, balanced diets, and regular physical activity to improve overall well-being. Dr. Khan also highlighted the role of Ayush practices in achieving a harmonious balance between mind, body, and spirit, encouraging participants to integrate these ancient wisdoms into their daily lives for enhanced health and vitality.

A Yoga session was conducted as part of the programme, led by Showket Ahmad & Irshad Rehman (Yoga Instructors). This session aimed to promote physical and mental well-being among the participants, highlighting the benefits of regular yoga practice. Students had the opportunity to consult with the medical professionals present, particularly regarding gynecological problems. This personalized consultation provided valuable health advice and support.  Medicines were distributed free of cost to participants, ensuring access to necessary treatments and promoting healthcare equity.

 

Dr. Syed Mustafa Shah delivered the Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to all the speakers, organizers, and participants for their contributions and active involvement in the programme. He acknowledged the efforts of the District Aush Office Baramulla in organizing the event and highlighted the importance of continued awareness and education for better health outcomes. The Awareness Programme was a great success, providing valuable information, practical advice, and health resources to the community. The collaborative efforts of the speakers, organizers, and participants significantly contributed to the event's success, promoting a holistic approach to health and wellness. The programme was expertly coordinated by Dr. Reyaz Ahmad Dar (Medical Officer, AHWC Tilgam) and Dr. Khursheed Ahmad Wani along with Dr Zahid Hussain (AP, GDC Thindim Kreeri, whose dedication and meticulous planning ensured the event's outstanding success and impactful delivery.
