On 25th September 2024, the Department of Political Science at Government Degree College Thindim Kreeri organized a series of engaging and thought-provoking events to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti. These events were conducted under the esteemed guidance of the Worthy Principal, Prof. Kowsar Jan. The day commenced with a declamation contest where students passionately expressed their views on the themes of truth and non-violence. Participants eloquently articulated their thoughts on these core principles of Mahatma Gandhi, highlighting their relevance in today’s world. The competition was intense, with each student bringing a unique perspective and depth of understanding to the stage. The declamation contest was won by Bisma Ashraf of BG 5th Semester. Simultaneously, an on-the-spot painting contest was held, showcasing the artistic talents of the students. The themes for the contest were the Dandi March and the Quit India Movement. Participants used vibrant colors and creative techniques to depict these significant events in India’s freedom struggle. The paintings were a visual treat, reflecting the students’ admiration and respect for the Father of the Nation and his pivotal role in these movements. The painting competition was won by Ruqiya Jaan of BG 1st Semester. In addition to these events, a quiz competition was organized, focusing on the life and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi. The quiz tested the students’ knowledge about Gandhi’s life, his philosophies, and his impact on the world. The competition was highly competitive, with teams battling it out to answer questions that ranged from Gandhi’s early years to his major campaigns and achievements. The enthusiasm and energy of the participants were palpable, making the quiz an exciting and educational experience for all involved. The quiz contest was won by Team B, led by Zeenat Aman and Zahida Ashraf. The winners of these competitions will have the honor of representing Government Degree College Thindim Kreeri at the inter-college competitions to be held at Government Degree College Baramulla. This opportunity not only recognizes their hard work and talent but also provides them with a platform to showcase their skills at a higher level. The college community is proud of these students and looks forward to their continued success in the upcoming events.
